wheel help
Dogs and trucks. That's my life. Keeps me off the ward, next door to Havi!
Sandy says she knows about the Lake Erie rescue group. It's amazing to me that some parts of the country have no rescue groups at all. We've hauled dogs back to Illinois from Georgia and other far away places because, like you said, they were scheduled to be put down. Sandy does most of her rescue through Pet Finders.com. Her business is Dutch Hollow Labradors, and she does rescue through the Canine Solutions training side of the business. Here's her web site and Pet Finders. Boy are we off topic! Stu

Sorry to go back to the topic, but...
pgh49ford,
If you go with the F2 16" wheel route, I am looking to get 215/85/16s (does this size make sense to everyone?). This size is as close as I could get to the original overall diameter and width of the original tires. I believe people have said the 7.5x17s measured about 31" (I need to go out and actually measure mine!). The 215s measure 30.3" in diameter and 8.5" wide according to the tire calculator from Discount Tire.
The tire calculator is a pretty good tool for figuring out what tire you want and comparing it to the original.

Great looking truck by the way!

Thanks for getting us back on topic. The above Universal Tire link shows that a 7.50 x 17" is 34.5" outside diameter. Your 215/85 x 16 sounds like a pretty good choice if you're going radial. Stu
pgh49ford, don't worry too much about ride comfort. The stock seats are the most comfortable I've sat on when it comes to absorbing bumps and road vibrations. Amazing technology for 60+ years ago.
I run LT215/85/16 radials on my F1 that have an 8 or 10 ply rating (I've used both) and if I keep them around 50 psi the ride is decent. They stand up to look like original but with all the advantages of modern composition.
If it was mine I'd do the F2/250 swap. Easiest way to go and better selection of gears. The more you drive the truck the more you'll want to.
Small world indeed. I got a start in life just across the state line from you in Columbiana.
Here's what that tire looks like with F2-6 fenders - but I make my trucks work. lol

thats a great looking monkey face pgh. your in good hands with Stu on the wheel info. he has helped me out a ton, and is still helping. didnt know your wife was a dog trainer Stu? if i ever get out your way to pick up some parts, i will bring the dog "sam" a young and playful 2 year old saint bernard. probably about 140lbs now. its all fun and games till he gets you at the knee's at a full fun. its not bad in the snow, but its not good when you got your feet set on dry anything. did i send you a pic of my son, sam, and the 60?
No sir. I think we'd have a marathon thread here if we started posting pics of kids and dogs in our trucks. Stu
Well, finally got a chance to sign on after working a bunch of hours over the last day or so. Figured I will need the money for wheel issues! lol. Thanks so much for the continued help and posts recently added, not only offering help, but encouragement. I appreciate it. I am off Friday and will be trying to resolve the wheel problem and hopefully will make some headway. Appreciate the info and compliments Dan and Mark. Mtflat, nice truck!! And, I have spent a good bit of time in Columbiana with the wife and my brother in law at the canfield swap meet. Nice area. Stu, will check out the lab site for sure. Kudos to your wife for the work with the labs in need.
