anyhow I do like to get the regular filters with the deeper pleats. usually takes a special order, frex Purolator sells one as a premium version.
anytime I let someone get a hold of my truck, they look at the air filter and ask me why I use those. why do I is my question I guess. the deeper pleat seems like it should be better. is it?
Have you had our oil analyzed? If so, what is your silicon readings? My guess is that your filter choice is fine and it probably does the job. The thing to watch is how well the factory airbox seals. Take a look at your turbo wheel and see what it looks like. Also check the inside of the upper airbox lid for any signs of dirt.
I have a neighbor that is into banks heavy. He just went with the deeper filter on his stock box because the banks oil insert for the stock box filled up to easy and under heavy pulls, 5th wheel, it didn't flow. He says so far this works for him.
If you like the stock set-up, look into the Ford AIS system. Best of both worlds.
What he said, the AIS is a great filter per all the info out on it & fits & looks like Ford put it on at the factory.
I'm happy with it all the way around...JMO
Don't have to special order them around here - most parts houses keep them on the shelf. Been running the purolator or napa "deep pleat" filters for a while w/ a stock box. UOA comes back with good Si #'s. I can get the p/n on both in the morning and post it if need be. Think the actual oem app for this is the van chassis w/ the 7.3
