Start things off not new to this form but new to the 6.0L. I have a 05 140,500 miles bone stock has never had anything replaced .(knock on wood) Had at dealer to pressure test coolant system & check things out.I assume the fimc was going bad because of hard starts. It is bad so i did the DR.Qauds repair tonight and tested. Before repair key on 46v,start 20v.After repair key on dropped from 46v to 42v to 39v,start and running 48v.Truck has sat for two days and was 36 degres when started. Started alot faster and smoother. Any suggestions ?
Cheezit so whats the next step try to re-solder or sent it to ciruitboardmedics? Your the man I was hoping to reply back . what do you suggest i do. the stealer wants $1000. ciruitboardmedics $325.
The term "stealership" or "stealer" is considered a derogatory term by MANY site Techs. When asking for a Tech's response, it would probably be wise to NOT use those terms.
As far as your FICM, how do we know your soldering skills? Does a personal business depend on the reliability of your truck (ie what kind of reliability do you need)? Without knowing these things, only you can answer your own questions.
SWAMPS is probably the most frequently used company, but no one has complained about CircuitBoardMedics that I have seen.
I resoldered mine last week and it worked like a charm. Put it all back together and she started right up. Working great ever since. Took me about 30 minutes to do it, taking it all apart and stuff. Total job was less than an hour.
Man i hate this forum. Going along blissfully ignorant of things i should be checking. I finally check them and now I am a little worried.
I just programed my scangauge to check my FICM voltages. I don't have any codes thrown, or hard start issues, but i thought it would be good to check.
KOEO - 48v
KOER - 39v but would creep up to 47.5-48.5 within 2 minutes.
Is this something i should worry about and pull the FICM it and have it soldered at circuit board medics or similar. Or can i wait until i get a code. Or will that be to late.?
I recently had my FICM repaired by CircuitBoardMedics and I was very pleased with their work. I live about 30 minutes from them and I had mine in and out in the same day. Nice guys and it made a world of difference in my truck.
That is probably where i will send it if i have to. My question more is if i should send it now or can i wait a while? And if i were to wait, what are the potential problems i may run into?
I'm not here to tick anyone off . just here to get advice. didn't mean anything by the stealer . I do plumbing, heating & a/c for a living i think i'm pretty darn good at soldering, brazing, etc. I will try to maybe clear up first voltage reply. meant to say before repair key on 48, cranking 20, running 20. after repair key on 48, cranking 46,42,39, running 48.

thanks for the info. Just wandering if i'm advised to try to re-solder again. I read where someone tried this & it didn't work to try again. Or advised to send it in to be repaired by circuitboardmedics or swamp, will they touch it sense it was tampered with. My voltage issuse may need a capacitor or resistor replaced.

I'm no expert, so I would be afraid to advise you on potential problems from waiting. With my experience, the repair made a world of difference in cold starting and overall runnability. It's like a different truck, but my voltages were much lower than what you are reporting, like in the 20's.

I would give CBM a call and ask them. You'll be talking to the guy that will do the work, so I would think it would be pretty easy to get an answer.

I'm wondering if CBM can do a before and after diagnostic sheet like Swamps does by plugging into the FICM? You might also try FICMRepair.com - Your source for FICM Repair!. Their prices are ridiculously reasonable but I have no knowledge of anyone that has used them.
I got a before and after report on voltages. I'm not sure if that qualifies as diagnostics. They have a test apparatus that they plug the unit into to determine if it's bad before repair.
