This is going to sound like a smart *** question, But I'm not trying to be smart in any way, Are you sure you are on #1 spark plug wire when timing it ? Working here on the Ford Racing techline you would be surprised on how many times I've run across this !!

Yep,on #1.Same as most Ford motors. 1st cyl.on pass.bank.
