So i plan to do my fuel filter on my 2008 escape 3.0L and was wondering anyone knows where it is so i save time not having to search for it. Rear by fuel tank? Along the frame? Is it a bitch?
It should be under the passenger side in front of the tank. 2 quick disconnects and a band clamp to hold it in place.
Pull the fuel pump relay and start the engine and let it run until it stalls. Crank the engine 1 more time to make sure pressure is relieved. Replace the fuel pump relay. Remove the fitting clips and one fitting at a time. loosen the retaining band and remove the filter. insert the new filter and place one line on until it stops and place the retaining clip and then the other fitting. It the retaining clips are broken they must be replaced or the line may be displaced and the vehicle will stall and a fire may occur. Cycle the ignition switch 3-4 times with 10 seconds between each cycle the start the engine. Check for leaks while the engine is running.
P.S. it is a good idea to check the fittings a day or so later to ensure they are in-place and hot leaking.
NOTE: the vehicle may need to be raised and it must be supported on stands to prevent it from falling and resulting in personal injury or death!
