Dull and Faded Bug Guards

This is for everyone who has a bug guard. The other day I got fed up with the way mine looked and almost wanted to throw it away. In a last attempt to save it I decided to wax it. I used the plain old turtle wax in the can. I think it is the non clear coat kind. The bug guard now looks almost as good as new other than some scratches. Oh by the way, the bug guard I have is an acrylic or lexan plastic that is the smoke black color. Has anyone else tried this? Also i wouldn't recommend trying this unless you are prepared to discard the bug guard if it doesn't work. So far this has worked on both of the trucks I tried it on. I'm pretty sure it will work. Just don't do it in circular motions... go back and forth. I was thinking this might help someone.

Scratch remover works well too. I use it first then follow with a coat of wax. The wax will also help with bug removal, although the main reason i put one on my other (d@@@e) truck, was to protect the paint from rocks and sand.
