I do not believe there was ever a manual tranny offered in an Expedition. Not sure if anyone has done the swap, possible I guess with enough time and money.
yeah, I just did a wiki search, and it only shows autos for transmission options. I can't imagine they are that much different than the F250, and so a 5 sp. could be possible?
It shouldn't be too much of a job for a DIYer as the F150 and the Expeditions are closely related. Just don't expect to have it all finished in a few days. I think the biggest problem will be the electronics. Unfortunately it's not as easy as swapping was back in the day. Now there are sensors everywhere and for everything. Good luck with it.
It should be the same as the F150 and Expedition are very closely related. If you have a donor truck that you can transfer everything from one to the other. I imagine the swap would go very smoothly. I still believe the biggest source of problems will be the electronics unless you have the donor to take the wiring harness from. A friend of my son's got into a gasser to 7.3 diesel swap and the electronics nearly put a halt to the project. He even bought a new under the dash and under the hood harness for the swap and one or both of them was incorrect from Ford. I don't know for certain if the project is done but I know he would have been better off just buying a diesel truck. He already has more money into the project than if he had just bought the diesel truck. And that does not consider his labor on the project.
The upside is he is now an expert at this swap at least.
Ford typically had a 6 bolt pattern that any t-case could bolt to the adapter housing of the tranny. I'm not familiar with the newer trucks, and so this may no longer be the case (figuratively, lol). I don't own an Expy, but have been considering one for the wife, since she wants a better SUV than the S10 Blazer she currently tends to hit deer with. The Expedition would be nice, IMO, and would have the benefit of pulling a bigger trailer down the line, when I would take over driving it, as I tend to get the "hand me downs" from her, lol. But I would prefer a 5sp. for my own use when or if the time comes. Thus the questions, and weighing my options.

Go to Wally World and pick up some "Deer Alerts" they work and they are only about $7.00 for a pair. I have them on my cars, trucks and motorcycles. I have seen them work as most critters run from the ultra sonic sound they put out. Cows do not count in this.
I've seen a few people who have swapped them in F150s, but I haven't seen much on write ups. The newer 5.4 super duties have a 6 speed manual, and I think it is similar to the diesel 6 speed, so it should handle good power. I'm not sure about the transfer case, but you could probably find on to fit the manual transmission for sure. The electronics wouldn't be near as hard as swapping a manual out for an auto, especially if you went with a manual transfer case. I think it would be a sweet swap, and you would more than likely be one of the firsts to do it!
