Just did the fpr shim that i found in the tech/mod section.used the 4-40 cap screw and nut. Went from 52-62psi to start with up to 75-85psi after the shim. runs a lot better but looking at other threads a lot of other people are saying don't go over 70 psi!! Am i going to damage anything running this pressure? i have stock injectors if that means anything.
Yea u need to tone it down a little on the pressure, a lot of people feel comfortable around 70 psi, 75 psi is a max. if you start getting above that you will start blowing old fuel lines and then start blowing injector o-rings.
No problem man thats what we r here for. and yea definetly better safe than blowing injector o-rings, annoying how you try and help your truck but could end up causing damage and an annoying repair. and when you say between 65-75 do you mean that the needle is bouncing between that? because if so most guys usaully take the number between that, which in your case would be 70 psi, which is perfect.
while doing the shim iwent to clean the screen in my flter housing and noticed it was gone.does anyone know who sells a replacement? With the screen missing for so long i might want to take the fpr apart, clean and inspect it.
it looks like if i take apart the fpr i'm also going to need replacement seals?
who sell those?
i'm also looking for an exploded view of the fpr,saw it somewhere in here, does some one remember the link? thanks for your help
Heres what you need concerning your missing fpr screen
Ford part number 2C3Z-9157-AA seal kit. IH 1825748C92. Includes the screen unit and the white ball and o rings.
Sorry dont have an exploded view of the fpr, maybe a quick search on here might bring something up.
Thanks for the p/n blake,i was sort of worried about the screen, figured ford would want to sell me the whole fpr for $500.00 lol
no need for the exploded view, the pics will suffice.
Yes, for anyone wanting to do FPR shim.
ALWAYS check the PSI first before doing the mod.
If you have 50 or higher, shimming will probably put you over desired PSI.
60-70 psi is ideal.
50-60 is good enough.
well just cleaned and installed new o-rings in the filter canister and the frp.
the cylidrical mesh filter on the inside of the frp was so clogged i can't believe
the truck even ran.My advice to anybody with a clogged screen is to spend the extra few bucks on o-rings,take apart and clean the whole frp out.truck's throttle response is much better now.Double checked fuel pressure, still hanging at 70 p.s.i.
Hi, i was looking at post about fpr, went out and checked mine with tire gauge got up 42psi at idle is this reasonable at idle did not check at higher rpms yet.
I have a pressure gauge from when i was checking fuel pressure on gas engine will need to angle fitting to use it.
