After 2 days of searching and reading I think I am more confused than when I started. Here is my dilemma.
I have a STOCK 06 F350 srw and I am due for a set of tires. Well this got me to thinking, I should get new rims to go with the new tires. So the search began. After reading and looking through many post, I have found a lot of info on backspace and offset in reference to 04 and older trucks.
Here is my question.
What backspace/offset do I need on a 18x9 rim or a 20x9 rim. Still considering both.
Also what size tire can I run on both the rims.
I would prefer to not have the rims and tires stick way outside the fender.
Let me confuse you more.... The stock rims are hub centric (which means that the weight of the truck is on the hubs) which is the way ford designed it. After market rims are lug centric which puts the weight on the lug nuts. Not the way ford designed the superduty's.
Now many people run after market lug centric rims with no problems. There are a few people you can find on here that have had issues with going to lug centric.
I for one thought about after market rims but change my mind. I will be going with my stock rims and going with a 285 tire.
I know I have read before some aftermarkets are hub centric, but I think the vast majority are not. Retail places dont seem to always list the info either.
