Hitokori pretty much named them all... i think the E4OD never came with the I6, but you could use it with a stand-alone computer (too much ha$$$le, and the tranny isn't worth it).
lol not to bust your xxlls Encho but the E4OD was used quite abit on the 300s post 89 hell you could probly get one on one in 89 I think 89s when the E4OD came out here in the U.S. of A.
Edited to add: my 1990 F150 Extended cab with 300Cid Straight 6 EFI Came with the E4OD and a 3.08:1 open Differential Rear Axle for example
What overdrive transmissions will work with my 89 EFI 300 straight 6?
Hayden you could hypothetically Buy the E4OD from a Scrap yard along with the ECM for the same year model of truck with that Engine say a 1990 like mine with the straight 6 and E4OD and swap out the transmission and Computer and you'd be golden
Edited to add: the E4OD is Essentially a C6 thats been computerized and had an Over Drive gear added to it. So it should be a good transmission for you but I'd get a newer one I can't remember who but somebody mentioned they made improvements to them. think like the 93-95s or something like that couldn't go with a 96 cause of the introduction of OBD2
Matt I love the paint Scheme on your Truck we had an 86 with the exact same paint job and Red valour(sp) interior it was the XLT Lariat model 302Cid EFI Automatic. Don't know which automatic though wasn't my Truck
AFAIK, the AOD was never put behind a 300, although it will bolt up. in a previous discussion of the subject at fordsix.com, it was stated that this is because the 300 puts out more low-speed torque than the AOD is capable of handling
