I just ran across an ad in Hemmings Motor News for an oil additive called TUFoil . Does anyone know anything about this product? And thank you guys for alerting me to the problems with Fram. Have been using them for 8 years or so, but immediately went to Wix after reading the comments regarding the problems with them. I always change oil and filters at 3K miles and never had a problem, but why chance it!
Don't put additives in your oil, especially is you are changing at 3000 miles. The oil already has the right amount of additives in it. Adding oil additives can actually harm your engine and negate additives that are in the oil to begin with.
"TUFoil" contains PTFE, which goes by the trade name of.....................Teflon (Ta-DA!!!). Teflon will manhandle your engine. Stick with a good oil and regular changes.
Oh yeah, and don't get these guys started on putting Teflon into your engine - they'll go on for days!!!!!
Snake oil! Teflon is a solid particle that somebody thought would be cool to put in an oil base and sell as a magical oil additive. Promising long engine life and better gas mileage, bla bla bla...... Only one problem, your oil filter's job is to trap solid particles and keep them out of your oil. So all you'll be doing is lining your oil filter with Teflon.
