5.4 poor power
I've searched the threads without much luck. I have a 1998 F-150, 5.4l, auto, 4x4 with about 185,000 miles. The truck starts fine, drives around town well, but lacks power when climbing a hill or towing. I don't feel any misses or skips, just an underpowered engine. Another issue, not sure if related. When you start the engine, it revs to 1600 rpms but settles down withen a few seconds. This cannot be good when it's 10 below out. There is no check engine light or pending codes. Ideas?

The lack of power could be many things-you'll spend a lifetime chasing it if you don't have the mechanical and diagnostic experience to figure it out.
