What a week. Just finished putting in a new water pump and doing the 50 cent fix for UVCH. I started the truck and let it warm up for awhile. I didn't like the way the belt was riding on the pulleys. took the belt off and on several times and it always seemed to walk about a quarter of an inch. It was also riding on the front of the power steering pulley and rubbing against the cheek of the pulley. When I took the belt off, all the pulleys seemed good, spun free except the power steering pump has about a quarter inch play in and out but seemed to spin freely and not seem to wobble. There did not seem to be any movement while idleing. So common sense failed me and I took the truck around the block anyway. I know I'm thinking about it as I type. Needless to say half way around I streaded my belt and I now have power steering fluid all over the engine compartment. I guess tomorrow I will be getting a new power steering pump and a new belt.
Not sure if you switched to the dual alt upper hose yet or not. if you haven't, you will need to drain coolant and remove hose to do the belt. That said, may want to have some extra coolant on hand if you spil any.
Thanks for the advice. Switched hoses when I did the water pump so fortunately don't have to pull the hose. I am having a tough time getting the pulley off of the power steering pump. It really wants to stay on there. I am soaking it in liquid wrench over night and hopefully I can persuade it to come free tomorrow. Be safe.

I am assuming with the hose you speak of you don't have to remove the hose to change the belt. Do you have part numbers or a link?
Andy,
Thanks for the info. So that is not an allen wrech bolt that holds it on? I assumed I would have to use a puller but thought there was a bolt that had to come out first. I've been trying to remove what I thought was a bolt first but can bet that to move. Thanks for the help.
