Have you considered a late model Ford van? Maybe a E350 with a turbo diesel or something like that?

Same old, same old here

I'm envious, to take on a COE project you must have a good sized shop. I can't wait to see what you do with this one

Ford 1 tons had the twin I beam up till the 90's.... if you can work around that you are golden. Newer ones have a better setup I think. Chevy 1 tons had IFS which ride and handle better, plus they are easy to lower...
also don't forget about Dodges

Some potential drivetrain candidates are bread vans, motor homes, dually pickups, etc.
Also check out government surplus auctions....I have seen a bunch of trucks sell dirt cheap....none in my area tho.....

Here is the NM public surplus auction site.

Public Surplus: Browse all categories

I would say a nice mid 90's for dually if you can find one. Good price and easy to work on. Keep me posted on this project I have wanted a COE for a long time.

P.s. If you're free sometime I'm inviting some of the New Mexico members over to check out my progress and give them dibs on another 55 i have for sale.

Now I guess alot has to do with what you are going to do with it. If I were to ever get a COE I would make a car hauler with something like a Cummins, possibly using existing chassis with modern drive line....It sounds like you are looking to make a cruiser so something based on a 1 ton dually would be cool (Ford would be awesome). Good luck.

Thank you. We saw one of those at the Good Guys show in Scottsdale. Sorry, but when I saw it, I told my husband that it looked like an oversized pug. It was very interesting though, and they had done a lot of work on it.

COEs are like that, most people either love em or hate em. But if you hate em give it some time and they will grow on you LOL John
