leaking brake fluid
I have a 91 f-250 diesel and the front caliper is pouring fluid. I got under the truck and notices there is a long spring that has came loose. I pulled it out. What exactly does this spring do and is it the cause of the leak.

Fluid can leak from a caliper if it has been damaged or if the seal is bad, either way it would need replaced.
However there is no spring involved with it. The only thing I can think of is that some flexible brake hoses have a wire wound round them, so check if the hose is OK and is not the cause of your leak.
