Well, we're having great weather this weekend so I got my Cyclone installed. It went well and I think I'm gonna like it. Couple thoughts.....I cannot believe how difficult the oem clutch is to spin. This has to rob the engine of a substantial amt of horsepower and gas mileage. You can't even spin that fan with the oem clutch, you can only move it by hand, no spin. The Cyclone spins freely. My first impression with my road test is a noticeable difference in power, acceleration ability. The engine is much quieter with the Cyclone on startup. I no longer hear that ROAR. I'll let you all know when I check my mileage again. I don't check it much. I would be certain that this has to improve the mileage.
I like the roar too, but now that I realize that it was the fan and finding how difficult it is to turn that fan, I think I'm glad it doesn't do that anymore unless I want it to. By the way the Cyclone sounds real neat, a big roar when you downshift and turn the fan on I'll keep ya posted.
hey kirk do you feel any extra hp freed up?i have always wanted to get rid of the stock fan and replace it with an electric fan. I have looked at the cyclone too.JDM Egineering has an electric fan set up using FORD stuff, and also have a water pump to free up some hp. i have worried about giving up any reliability with any thing other than stock. how does it cool? keep us informed!

Gary, go to www.usgear.com and click on the cyclone. There is a bunch of info and photos on there for this clutch
Daryl, I definitely feel a difference in acceleration. Like I said, take your hand and try to spin your fan, with the engine shut off, of course So far I haven't had to use the fan at all. I've been using the override just to see if what they state was true, that you only need fan cooling 2% of the time. So far that holds true but I'll know how well the fan actually cools this summer when the weather is hot, when I'm sure that if I were in stop & go traffice I would have to use it. I'll keep ya posted.
Assuming the Cyclone fan gives a 2.5 mpg increase, with fuel @ $1.54/gal and the truck currently averaging 13 mpg, the $490 cost should be recovered after ~25K miles. That assumes an awful lot though....
