Bronco brake problem
Looking for help with a 1987 Bronco, with a 5 liter. I recently replaced the master brake cylinder, and bled all the lines at the same time.
After finishing the job, the yellow "Rear Antilock" light comes on, goes out for 2 seconds, them comes back on and stays on. Also, I don't have a red "Brake Warning" light that comes on temporarily when starting (don't know if it should or not, although my Haynes says it should). This red light DOES come on when I put the emergency brake on, however. I also took it out and verified that the rear brakes are indeed locking up. I also disconnected the negative battery lead to try re-setting codes, with no luck.
I have tried to read out brake codes from the orange/black test lead wire, and get no blinking of the yellow Rear Antilock light, indicating no codes. Haynes says that if fluid level is low, or there is no power to the RABS module, that there will not be any codes. Does anyone know how the RABS system measures fluid level? When I took off the old Master, it had a 3 wire harness plugged in to the bottom of the reservoir; I disconnected it. When I installed the new Master, I notice that there is no mating connection on the bottom of the new reservioir, just a plastic slot where the harness can be clipped. I didn't look at the old Master before getting rid of it, but does anyone know if there should be some kind of shorting plug or something on the bottom of the reservior? Otter Zone assures me there is only one Master for this Bronco, and that the slot is just a convenient place to keep the wires.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
