Seat riser attachment question

Hey guys,
I have seen some of the seat risers fabbed up by some of you and have a question about attaching them to the floor and the seats to the risers. There are two ways to do this. The first is to attach the seats to the risers using one set of hardware and then attaching the risers to the floor using another set of hardware. The second way is attaching the risers and seats together and running the same hardware, a long bolt, through the floor and securing it that way. I am using 2x2 16 ga square tubing and will be using grade 8 hardware either way I decide. Any thoughts or preferences? Just want to come up with the most secure way I can. Thanks in advance...

Funny thing happened to me along "riser" lines. Just completed a major "redo" of my '53 F-100 (body & paint). Along with everything else I changed the seat-mine was really ratty; a buddy had a '63-'64 parts truck with a decent seat. I measured the width-at the floor and across the cushion-everything seemed right except his had a riser under it. The seat looked identical to mine except for that. So I removed the riser, had the seat redone, and installed in the newly restored truck. 'Climbed up into it and thought I was sitting on the floor. Luckily I kept the riser but it begs the question: Why did Ford reduce the height of the seat from '53 to '63 only to add a riser to get it back up where it belonged???
