6637 questions

I just got done installing the 6637 kit from riffraff and I have a couple of questions.
1. In some pictures I've seen of the kits installed it looks like the whole battery box/intake from grill has been removed. Is this ok to do and if so how do you secure the battery in place?
2. In the picture, it looks like the filter goes completely underneath the rail where the hood closes, mine sticks up about 1" above this rail. Is this ok?

I had to cut away most of the stock air box on the fender side. It will then fit underneath the lip.

I think most leave the lower portion of the box installed, I did. To get the filter to lay low, I trimmed some plastic from the bottom of the box to make more room for the filter. Once you do this, loosen the clamp at the CCV coupler and twist the intake hose/filter until the filter lies at the lowest position. You'll see what I mean when you get into it.

Thanks guys. Snakedoc, do you happen to know what model van you got it out of? Maybe I could find one on eBay.
