RHN Info
Roadside Help Network - RHN
I have gotten a few new request and did set you guys up this evening. I do apologize for being slow with some of them. If I missed any one Sorry about that just send me a reminder email.
Now to clarify a few things I do not make a dime off the RHN now will I ever. There is no fee nor charge to join it either. From this point on PLEASE do not talk about making donations or anything of the sort here in the forums on FTE. They have been really good about this venture and if by misconception it is perceived that money is being made from the RHN than there is a chance that it will not be permitted here.
The RHN is a labor of love for me. It is something that I am proud to be a part of and I have all of you to thank for that.
Thanks for your support!
I have a few others that i will be doing as well. Thank You every one for making the RHN what it is!
I want to Thank all of you for making the RHN what it is, Please do not forget Bob he is a huge part of the RHN as well. I could not have done this without him.
Also a reminder to read the conditions in which you have to meet in order to join, I have had to tell a couple of people "sorry but you do not meet the criteria for the RHN"
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
That said, I think Jim and Bob have a difficult balancing act to handle, for two reasons. The first being what it is in the tech world, ID theft is rampant, and while what is there isnt everything needed, its a fair start to a sesoned hack. Second, there are flat nutjobs out there, and who knows what they might do with it. One other thing that weighs in, i am 99.9% certain if my wife is driving through your neck of the woods, I want someone I can trust to help, and that would be you.
I think the whole RHN has evolved over time, the initial entry requirements were reasonable and to the point, but its expanding as trucks are retired for whatever reason, but that does not discount your knowledge, or the trust you have earned over time.
I beleive Jim and Bob are working hard to keep the brotherhood together, but still have to be diligent on new entries, as Jim said in his appologies, once you in, your in, you don't just get fired for changing trucks.
Anyhow, my 2 cents, and I hope you stick around Chase.
But I guess I'm taking myself out since I'm trying to sell 7.3l and don't have one to replace it. But I'm not gonna throw a hissy-fit about it either, I'll leave that to my 1-year old son. Chase, I am talking about you. If you have a problem with something, you usually approach the person in charge, in this case that would be Jim. Send him a PM or email, don't make it public that you jump to irrational conclusions.

Tom, I agree with you that the RHN has evolved much during its short life. The main concern that I remember being stated was abuse of the information and that is why the requirements were set to what they were. And since the members had late 7.3 engines, that is what the membership was limited to. But now that we see that the safety of the information has been good, opening RHN to OBS 7.3s seems sensible because they also have knowledge about the 7.3. Also, former owners didn't sell their expertise with their truck, so it makes sense to keep them on board.
I don't see opening it to all Ford truck owners as that would dilute the knowledge base and could make all sorts of problems. If other groups want to start their own help site more power to them. If we want to take part in their site we can join their group and then their site.
Those of us that submitted our personal information to the RHN did so after being comfortable with the rules in place at the time that we did.
It doesn't seem right to later modify (maybe "relax" is a better word) those rules without first letting those whose info is there to make the decision to withdraw if they no longer feel comfortable with the criteria for access.
If things are going to be different than when they first understood them, I believe they should be given that option.
That said, I have no objection to the inclusion of the OBS crew, otherwise so qualified.
(Not that we're taking a "vote" on this).

Im new to this site and I have never seen a debate like this turn personal. FTE is known for being objective and helpful. This name calling and arguing will just turn away new members to the site.
My opinion, looking objectively, is that if there were changes made there should be notification sent to members and a new "terms of agreement" electronically sent. This way a person not for the changes could get out of it.
Also I believe that help should not be given based on what someone drives... I understand the concept behind RHN, but some well qualified SD and Diesel mechanics dont drive a SD or even a diesel, and by refusing their help, it is doing nothing but hurting the Network.
I dont think exclusion was the goal when the rules were set up... I dont take it personal that I am a newbie and underqualified to be a part of it, even though I could simply bring a part to a person.
I hope this comes to a civilized conclusion. Just keep in mind how potential site members might feel reading this and getting the impression that they will get flamed based on their "qualification."
Thanks for all everyone does. Just my 2 cents.
The RHN with the inclusion of the OBS guys has to potential to be something bigger than we ever imagined. Two years ago when we "resurrected" it it was going to be just a emailed database and look what we have now! I am in the process of doing some more stuff with it too. Like hogging any domain name that I can for it. .com . info . whatever

Mitch Thank you for the reminder of what a brotherhood is all about!
