Recieved a call from my service advisor today that the newest update is out which should cure the CEL and other transmission problems. Anybody else heard about this ?

 

Is this for transmission issues or does it fix all us guys with the P164A codes?

 

If you can give some more details, I am picking up my new 2011 next week and want to make sure this update is added BEFORE I take delivery. Thanks for sharing !

IT would be helpful.. Sound like a lot of us have some tranny issues that maybe would need to be addressed if in fact there is a trans fix with the above TSB..

Just got off the phone with the Ford dealer and had them run an oasis on my VIN. There is a just released TSB 11-3-23 for Super Duties built on or before 3/14/2011 (mine was built in November 2010) for several CEL's (P4020, P4021, and others) PLUS shift issues between 2nd and 3rd gear. He said something about another shift issue but didnt' get what he was saying as they were being as cooperative as a turd. Anyway I have an appointment to have it done on Monday. Hope this is the one that fixes it.

ISSUE:
Some 2011 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine and built on or before 3/14/2011 may exhibit malfunction indicator light (MIL) on with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's) P0401, P0402, P009A if driven at highway speeds with a snow plow attached, P164A if idled for extended periods in colder ambient temperatures, 2-3 transmission shift flares, harsh/inconsistent transmission shifting during transmission fluid warm up and tip-in events when at low speeds or coming to a stop. Refer to the Calibration Content for additional details.

ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure to correct the concern

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) and the transmission control module (TCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 71.05 and higher or 72.01 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2011.3 DVD.


The Calibration Update Contains Improvement Actions And Enhancements:

DTC P0401 (exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) flow insufficient detected)
DTC P0402 (exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) flow excessive detected)
DTC P009A (intake air temperature/ambient air temperature correlation) if driven at highway speeds with a snow plow attached
False DTC P164A (O2 sensor positive current trim circuit performance (bank 1, sensor 1)) if idled for extended periods in colder ambient temperature
2-3 transmission shift flares
Harsh/inconsistent transmission shifting during transmission fluid warm up
Improved shift feel for tip-in events when at low speed or coming to a stop

Thanks Guys - I need to check & see if they have release something for the Gasser... as that one appears to be only for the 6.7..

Just talked to my dealer and he said that TSB# 11-3-23 is outdated and unavailable.

 

What!?!? I need to call mine right now.

 

I just had mine at the dealer this past week for some minor work and ask about this update, they ran my vin and found no updates were available

 

Just called my dealer, I have 2000 miles on mine.

He told me to keep driving it and let the computer learn my style.

I have hard shifting 3 - 4 and the Rev shift issue.

he said drive 2 - 3k more then he will do the update if its still an issue.

That bugs me
