I have 1969 F250 4x4 with 4.10 gearing in the rear. I put on some 35 inch tires, and i was wondering what speedometer gear would get me close to a stock reading on the speedometer.
Much Thanks
Mike

You need to do some math because no one knows how tall your old tires were. If old was 30 and new is 35 then your speedo is off by approx 17%.
.83 % of 4.10 is 3.40.
Thank you now one last question. Could I grab one of these from any local auto parts store or from a ford dealership.., or do I have to order it from some where on line.

Ford has used the same nylon speedometer DRIVEN gears (end of the cable) since 1960. 16 thru 21 teeth are available.
The MSRP's range from $2.02 thru $4.00 each. These gears are held to the cable with a C clip (C1DD-17292-A).
The problem is: When looking these gears up in the 1964/72 truck parts catalog, the only tires listed are the original bias ply type. No radials or P-Metrics are listed.
Radial tures were not factory installed until the 1980's.
I'm no math genius, but it seems to me that if your speedo is reading low you would want a smaller diameter (less teeth) driven gear. Please correct me if I'm wrong. My other concern is that Ford may not have anticipated people putting tires of that size (35's) on the truck. Consequently, the smallest (16 teeth) may still not be small enough to correct the speedo error.
