fuel pumps

the rear pump was been loud(whinning) for about a year now. i will use it sometime just to get fesh gas in it. if i run it all the time the truck will start to spit and spudder. now the front pump is failing. since i am going to replace both would romoving the bed be my best bet. ps i have replaced the fuel filter. any help or suggestions would be appricated. thanks craig

Probably easier than working underneath, assuming you have a few friends to help lift it off & carry it out of the way. It'll also let you hose all the grit off the tops of the tanks before opening any lines. Use plenty of Liquid Wrench on the bed bolts each day for a week before you try to pull it, and use Anti-Seize compound when you put them back. Remember to buy a new O-ring for each tank before you start. Look here at pics #22-25 if you've never opened a tank. I find foam campershell tape the best thing to replace the OE strap padding (IF you dismount the tanks), and it's cheap & easy to find.
