First question is it stock with no engine or trans swaps? Or are you sure? The ID number is useless if the trans has been swapped as so many trucks of this age have at some point in time! You are better served to read the castng numbers on the trans, that way you are sure what it is! My ID numbers showed a 292 Y block with a 3 speed auto, and my truck has 352 with a 4 speed manual.... It would be a sjame to buy parts based on one trans only to pull it and find another! Casting Numbers are on the side of the trans, on some models it is on the passenger side, on others it is the driver side, get those numbers, then you will have half of the battle complete!
I bought it from somewone who had it for the last 20 years and it basically sat only has 34000 miles on it has lots of rust issues but runs like a dream I am sure all is stock I just wanted to make sure I have a book on trans before I pull it and would be nice to know what axles, trans, etc I could know about it from factory.the numbers on trans are 224716
Thanks

Post the VIN and it will tell what engine was in it when built.
Three digit AXLE code: The first two digits refer to the rear axle, the 3rd digit to the front axle.
There is no HF rear axle code and the front axle code of 8 wasn't used until 1970.
It cannot be an F700 with a MODEL code of F753 which decodes to an F750 w/a 24,000 lb. GVWR.
Note: Compare the VIN or the Warranty Plate (if located on the left door face below the latch) with the VIN on the registration to see if they match.
People replaced damaged left doors with used doors. 99.9% of the time, they did not install the original Warranty Plate on the replaced door.
btw: Where will y'all decode the casting number found on the trans case? Casting numbers cannot be cross referenced to Ford part numbers.
ID engineering numbers can be crossed over, but these usually have a prefix, basic part number and suffix...like C3TA-7004-AA. I could not find the case # of 224716 listed anywhere.
Edit: This is prolly a Clark related number. The Ford/Clark ID tag was originally bolted to the six bolt PTO cover, located on the right (passenger) side of the transmission case.

The trans number sounds like a GM / Allison trans number!
