some dumb a** kid pulled in frt of my truck last night and took out the whole frt end .but his center post was in at least a foot. his car left on a flatbed . when my tow truck arrived we pulled the bumper off the tires with the cable / frame machine. and i drove it to the shop .it was only a mile or so from the shop with no lights .this truck took a hard hit pretty good .ill see if i can get a pic of his car it was bad. i thought i read here that 05 header panel & 05 lights , bumper and grill will all fit my 99 . if all changed together is this correct?
thanks wes
It does, Im in the middle of the swap today..One thing that miffed me is the instructions and things missed in them.
Parts List.
05-07 Headlights
05-07 Headlight Mount panel
05-07 Upper valance
05-07 Bumper
05-07 lower valance
05-07 Bumper Mounting brackets (never listed in the other swaps) Frame to bumper.
05-07 Fog lights
You will need the hardware too, you can pull some off of the old truck or you can buy new stuff. all the new parts will need to have the speed nuts installed, I ran way short and had to locate them.. I found a bag of 25pcs at grainger for 19.00. The are 3/8-16 part number (4cuh2). and a bunch of 3/8-16 x 1" and by 3/4" long
When assembling the bumper look to see where all the speed nuts go first and install, I started installing them after all the paint work and was a pain in the ***. I never had fogs so when I ordered them in I never thought about the mounting bolts and they are long, I ended up finding 6- 8mm speed nuts and used 75mm long bolts.
so additional parts:
3/8-16 Speed nuts from Grainger parts number 4cuh2
3/8-16 x 1" Roughly 20pcs
3/8-16 x 3/4" Roughly 20 pcs
all the above is maybe 23.00
Now my bumper is complete and I was mounting yesterday, it appears that the new bumper mounting plates are tipped at a different angle and I will end up using some shims (never in any instructions). Looks absolutely frigen awesome!
I installed.
Harley Headlights
Outlaw Grille (painted black)
Upper valance (Painted black)
Powder coated Black front Bumper
Excursion lower vallance
tinted black Fogs
5000k HIDS Headlights
5000k HIDS Fog lights
OUCH! Glad you are OK and hope the other driver learned a lesson without being hurt too bad.
Yes, '05-'07 header panel, headlites and grill will bolt right up, but ya either need '05 bumper/valance or a cut-down '05 grill. The cost of these items should be the same as your '99 so insurance co. won't care.
That said, the headlite bulbs (9008/H13) in the '05 lites is an epic POS design and I wish I had never 'upgraded'. In addition, I miss having that Cummins or even 6leaker know it was the venerable 7.3 that blew his doors in.
Meanwhile, thinking ahead to the next idiot who pulls out in front of you - check out this badass bumper for only $1050!!! Ford BUF Bumpers
This thing is 10x as strong as my old ranchhand bumper...
jason that is a beefy looking bumper , that would be good for the deer and bears around here. ive been pricing parts and the 05 stuff is alot more than the 99 but still worth it . and since i am doing all the work on it ill save $ there. im still deciding but im thinking painting the whole truck and two toning it.maybe cowl hood . i had to start the claim with st farm the kid never even called it in three teenage boys all three in the ambalance minor cuts and bruises and my truck trashed.owell ill try and make something good out of this. whats the problem with the 05 lights ?
wes
The pins on 9008 bulb are about the size of sewing needles. i had a relay harness and stock-wattage bulbs and went thru several burned-up pigtails before i did (good) HID's.
I recommend '02 clear lenses, relay harness and HELLA 80/100 bulbs for the best lighting.
(retro solutions hid's are WEAK, if thats what yer considering...)
No need for Ford header panel, or grill, or even headlights. Where are you pricing this stuff? Why not let body shop do it?

yea i need a header panel mine is gone / ive been a body man / shop foreman 22 years . now i own a body shop so i get a good deal on stuff / i will save as i can do all the work and not have to pay anyone. except my painter .st farm should be here today and im gonna knock em in the back of his head till he pays for good ford parts
oh no! State Farm..... I was rear ended like I said by that Civic and they claimed it was 99% her fault and 1% my fault so they didnt pay for anything!!!! I was pretty pissed.
Hope your State Farm experience is better than mine was.

You need to find a new insurance agent, 'cause yours sux. He/she didn't do their job to represent you.
I was once in a four-car collision where the cause was someone insured with State Farm. Yes, they sure wiggle when trying to get out of it, but we perservered, and they paid for everything. My agent even got my deductible back from them.
Your agent isn't representing you to the insurance industry. Maybe just selling you insurance, but that's not their entire job as an "agent".
429 sorry to hear about the accident, I don't know what it is about these superduty people love to pull out in front of them like they were parts with disc brakes or something.
Honestly I have never been pulled out in front of more driving all my other cars combined than I have been since I got my SD, I even drive with my lights on at all times

bet this kid wont pull in frt of another one any time soon!!!
yea this kid was a idiot it was a four lane rd speed limit 45 so im going 45 through the green light he was going the other way and pulled dead in frt of me my skid mark was less than a foot ! there was a cop behind him that wasnt turning so he saw collision from about ten ft from his window he pulled behind my truck with lights on before all the plastic hit the ground. when i drove an old bronco (70) with 40 in tires it was like parting the red sea in frt of me people got out of the way and always would pull out and either stop half way or back up quick. i miss that but these trucks are huge when there lifted and wearing big tires.but i like this truck the way it is or was!!!
