van motors

Hey guys I have access to a couple van motors at the junk yard here for 850 bucks. Would it be worth it? Does everything swap over and is the same as s/d parts? I know the turbo is non wastegated. Would it be worth it, and what else could I sell off them?

The only differences when I swapped a van motor into my truck was the driver's side exhaust manifold, up pipes, intercooler piping as vans didnt have them, and the oil cooler is different.

So to put the late 99 turbo set up on my e99 i would need the van turbo piping and change the driver manifold? But the injectors are the same and the hpop and internals?

Couple hundred bucks for the turbo. 25-50$ per injector as cores. Spare block is not a bad idea even though I hate the thought of needing one. Never know who you might help out! Really need to know what years they are. 99 and newer is good and 99-00 is better. They have the forged rods as opposed to the pmr's.

Right there are 3. One is a 96 obs, and one was a 99 and 00 I believe. I will have to go back there. What do you think? Worth it to pick one up? I was gonna maybe use the turbo to convert to a late 99 set up, send in my ab cores and ads from the van for some Casserly stage 1 remans. Also the hpop or anything on top. What do you think?

Not sure on milage gotta look. If I kept it to reuse it I would rebuild it anyway before putting it in. Im in Illinois. Would you put the van turbo on your truck now you are saying?

Yes I would use the van turbo but first I would rebuild it. I think you can rebuild one for under $100 bucks and you need an adapter to fit the truck dp and it's like $90 from clay at riffraff!

Alright I might look in to getting one. I was just thinking about running the van turbo so I can get the late 99 setup. And would the van turbo compliment the stage one injectors?

Well I'm not sure how exactly it all works but I know a few guys running van turbo and hybrids so it should help. I think if you just put a van turbo on a stock truck it would have a slow spool up but with a chip and upgraded sticks to get some fuel rolling through there it would work great. The van turbo works well for curring surge but like I said it spools up a lil slower. Someone else should give some more experienced advice!!

I am hoping so. I might decide to buy one and see what I can do with it. Depends what price I get them for. I think the vans were hit in the front motor might be shot for all I know. I have to take a better look. Just seeing if it would be worth buying just for the turbo inj hpop and what not. Thanks for the advice might send ya pm if I got any questions

You could just buy the turbo I'm sure. Probly for only 150-200 bucks and not have to mess with the rest.

You're exactly right on the van turbo! Id get the 99 or 00 block because the 96 will have mechanical fuel and a little more work to get it to swap it into your truck if you had too plus it has a 15° hpop instead of 17° but the injectors are already single shots so jim at rosewood could turn them into stage twos real cheap. All those motors should have forged rods
