In the grand scheme of things, it wasn't that bad. I got to see what the bottom end looked like with 217,00 miles on it, and I was impressed. No scoring, no ridge, and I could still see the cross-hatching from the factory.

By doing the labor myself, I did the whole deal for about $600. Including new motor mounts.
So, inconvenient, maybe. But she runs one hell of a lot better.

Well, at least I'm not alone in this one. I wonder if there would be anything you could observe while doing a compression test that might alert you to an issue like this.?
