56 F100 Truck

Hello Friends,
I am new to this forum, glad I found it. I would love to have a 56 Ford F100 (54, 55 will do but preference is a 56). I don't have a garage where I can build one, not to mention the tools and my limitations in expertise. What I am considering doing is adapting a 56 body to an existing maybe 10 year old (or so), pickup (car maybe). My thinking is the newer models are safer to drive and mechanical parts are available if needed. What would a 56 body fit on the best, IE. Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma....
My apologies in advance to anyone who would be offended by me not doing a "true" restoration but because of the reasons listed above this would work for me.
Thank you for any advise given.
Regards
CV

In 56, the F100 came in a 110 inch wheelbase, with the 6.5 ft bed and it was also the first year of the 118 inch wheelbase, which gave you an 8ft bed. They called it the "Express".

The recent rangers come in 112" wheelbase and in 118" wheelbase.

There is a company that makes fiberglass panels that will fit a mid-nineties and up extended cab Ranger chassis though. The kit comes with a bed, the cab, hood, front and rear fenders and doors. All you need to do is have it painted and install the glass and harware. I don't remember who it was though.
