Battery Box Cover?

My cousin gave me a Motorcraft battery box cover Friday, looks to be in great shape, just got done cleaning it up. My question is did dents ever have these? I have never a dent with one(that I can remember anyway).

There was not a time during the 70s that I did not own a Ford truck, new or nearly new, and I do not remember anything like that.
