What do you call?

The part of the door that locks around the door striker bolt? My passenger door rattles quite a bit and taking a look at the part that locks around the striker bolt on my passenger side, I can see it doesn't close as tight as the one on the driver side. For the life of me I can't find the name of that part.

If I can't find a replacement latch, do you think a new striker bolt with the plastic sheath around it would fix the rattling? Is there any sort of adjustment that can be made to make the latch close tighter?

If yours does not have the plastic it will rattle FOREVER no matter what you do..and, Yes it is adjustable...

It's strange that my driver door doesn't have a sheath and doesn't rattle. I just ran to O'Reilly's and picked up a new striker bolt, I plan to put that on when I get home. Hopefully I won't need to make any adjustments.

take a pen or scrib or some thing to mark around the bolt so you have a starting place for the new one !

I don't quite get what you mean. It's bolting up to the same place, how would it be any different?

where it is bolted up to is also where you adjust it , you adjust it by loosening up the striker bolt and moving it around and then tighten it back up ! it will have like 1/2" of adjustment give or take some !

you will see once you loosen the bolt so i always think that when you mark it before replacing it it will give a good starting point , and with a new bolt it may not need any further adjustment then it might ?

When you replace it, spray some lube in the latch on the door. I replaced my strikers and it was VERY hard to get the doors to open. Sprayed a lil WD-40 on the latch and it's like brand new

Thanks for the input fellas. I'm looking forward to no longer having to put up with a door that rattles.
