Will the A4LD transmition in a 1990 ford aerostar 2wd fit into a ford ranger 4 wheel drive. the 1990 has a 4.0 ltr and the 1986 ranger has a 2.9 ltr.

 

Some things to consider. The 4WD tranny has a different tailshaft housing to allow the tranny to bolt up to the transfer case (assuming that it's similar to my '91 Ranger). So, you will at least have to change that out. There may be (I'm not sure) a difference in overall length, which would mean that the shafts would have to be swapped. A good source would be Hollander Interchange to know for sure.
