Tru-Cool Max install question

I just installed a Tru-Cool Max. In all of the pictures that I have seen of coolers that people have installed. The cooler has been mounted with the hose fittings pointing down. My question is how did you bleed the traped air out of the top of the cooler. I installed mine with the fittings pointed up, it should not trap any air. If there was air in the top of the cooler, the cooler would not be as effective. Tell me what you think. The directions do not say.

My understanding is that fluid goes in one port, and out the other, should only take a second for the fluid to push the air back to the tranny pan then its all fluid.

As soon as there is as much fluid going out of the cooler as there is going in it will just builb air pressure in the top of the cooler.

snake

I thought that it was essentially a snake looking tube going back and forth through the fins, not so much a tank system like a radiator, but I dont have the trucool, it mat be different than my derail.

I have my TruCool mounted with the fittings down. I really don't think which direction matters.

Copied and pasted from one of the sites that sells the TruCool.

Long Tru Cool (LPD) Transmission Coolers

How the Long Tru-Cool (LPD) Transmission Coolers Work:

(LPD) LOW PRESSURE DROP

When Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) is cold it is viscous. The unique Tru-Cool design allows the colder, thicker ATF to flow more efficiently through two open bypass channels positioned at the top of the cooler. As operating temperatures increase, the ATF becomes hotter and thinner. It is then directed through the core where it is cooled. Tru-Cool’s highly efficient cooling technology combines improved protection against lube system failure with optimal heat transfer.

Yes I read that on the outside of the box also, but the picture on the box showed the bypass on the end with the fittings. I don't know. What is the top and what is the bottom?

That's a good question. Mine seems to be doing it's job just fine with the fittings down.

This is how mine is mounted (not my pic, however)and it was described to be done in the dieselsite instructions.

I have not seen any info regarding a specific line orientation, so I would guess that it wouldn't make any difference.

I called the customer service phone number on the direction sheet, It is not a working number. I will leave it like it is and we will see how it works out. Thanks for your input.

Mine is mounted down as well I got mine from dieselsite. I never see temps above 125 any time of the year, it is working just fine. I wouldnt worry about air in it
