stainless exhaust rusting???

stainless exhaust rusting???
About two months ago I had a local exhaust shop put a stainless steel cat back dual exhaust kit on my truck. I was told the whole thing is stainless including the tips. Well yesterday I noticed that I have rust spots all over the tips and there's rust on the actual exuast pipes, esp. at the seams where they welded it up. The rust has spread back from the seams a couple of inches though. Is this normal, because my Magnaflow I had on my old truck was on there for 4 years and there was barely any rust at all????

Did the shop weld with stainless? Not all stainless is equal, and not all oxidation is considered rust. A good shop will spray all their welds with a high heat aluminum based paint. It only takes a moment, it looks better, and it does help prevent the welds from corroding. That being said, stainless steel is not guaranteed to be corrosion proof, and what you are experiencing could be considered normal.
