well, a TT is generally set up for around 12% tongue weight... the 5th wheels are more like 25%... so yes, there wouldn't be, and for good reason.
Fifths have more weight in an EMPTY bed over a tt but that 25% figure is way off. At 6500-7000, the pin rating on the 5r should be about 900lbs.... not 1750lbs.
I have seen more and more 1/2 tons pulling 5ers in the camp grounds lately and been wondering how there doing it my old 150 2001 with the 5.4 barley wanted my old 23 ft TT seemed like it was workin pretty hard but thees guys are pullin 5th wheels. Were pretty flat here in IL but still seems crazy to me.
It depends on how the vehicle is equiped. We towed a 23' tt with a 4.7 durango with the trailering package. It towed it as good if not better than a plain jane 5.7 chevy 2500 series P/U.
Yeah my f-150 had the tow package but no brake controller so mine was a pretty cheap one in the hills and curves felt pretty spooky like it could slide off and drag my truck with it. But the 3/4 ton diesel felt like i could just keep dragging it sideways
Well i have the max trailor tow with mine and the trailer breaks, As well my pin wait is 875lbs the trailer dry is 6123lbs, I had it on the scales and i am perfect for the half tone.
