Master cylinder swap?

I have a 64 F100 that I am going to be finaly doing a dual circuit swap on. The most popular conversion for most people is to use a 68 mustang with drum brakes cylinder when swaping to a disc drum conversion.

Due to monetary constraints I will have to stick with drums for a few more years in the front with the intent to eventualy swap to manual discs up front.

My question is this

A 68 stangs M/S has a 1" bore as did the original single circuit system.
However acording to pascals law I would gain an easier pedal feel for my wife by using a 7/8" M/S from willwood.

While on the drum brake system this should not pose a problom would the 7/8 M/S be capable of delivering sufficent volume to a disc brakes large caliper? The conversion kit uses a 72 impala caliper with a 2.934 dia piston.

And yes I do realise this will call for a longer pedal throw.

Any sane input would be great.

If you are considering a non power assist disc brake conversion in the future you will need all the pressure you can get in the system so, I would be inclined to go with the 7/8in master cyl.
Pedal travel shouldn`t change with the disc brake conversion.

There should be sufficent volume for the calipers then? If that is the case I will go with the 7/8 M/S.

I have driven a few older trucks with manual brakes. Both with and without discs in front.

I have never found the ones equiped with discs to be lacking. Drum fronts leave somthing to be desired however.

Off hand does anyone reputable other than willwood make a 7/8 bore dual circuit aluminium master cylinder?

The pistons on disc calipers are much larger than drum brakes but once the pads are in contact with the disc/rotor the piston/s do not retract so it requires very little fluid flow to apply a disc brake.
However as the pads wear the piston/s gradually extend, so requiring quite a lot of fluid to fill the piston chamber by the time the pads are fully worn. This usually means that the fluid resevoir to feed the disc brakes is quite large. If it is not them more frequent inspection of fluid level would be required but not a big deal.
Can`t help you on master cyl availability.

So the smaller displacement shouldent be an issue. Thats good.

Wilwood sells a 7/8" M/S. I was only currious of a cheeper one from a reputable manufacturer.

Thanks lazy,
