Rear Suspension Conversion

Anyone on here converted there rear end suspension from leaf springs to coil over and ladder bars? I would like to do that to my F100 since its not going to do any hauling and just going to be a street/strip truck.

The coilovers go in place of the square tube behind the axle. Those are there to keep it at ride height until all the weight is on it.

You want a parraell or tri-angulated 4 link. Not a ladder bar. A ladder bar is just a 2 link with the ability to adjust pinion angle on the fly.

If your serious about drag racing I would do a Ladder bar, but if it see's street time I would do a 4-link.

If you wanna be cheap, and cruise you can do a 2 link with long bars. Atleast 3 foot, but preferabley closer to 4 foot.

Just out of curiosity, not to change directions or anything in this thread, but would it have been feasible to install that setup inside the frame?

I thought about doing the setup parallel with the frame, I was going to buy a kit for a Ford 9 inch and use the kit to do it with my truck. I really appreciate it Witty73!!!

EDIT:

Thats the kit I would buy to do it. I would powder coat all I could plue, maybe chrome blue lol

I have seen the put the parraell links inside the frame, but you have to plate the inside to make the mounting point.

Its mostly to run wide tires, but if you plan to run a tire that leaves enough room for the 4-link on the outside of the frame. That is better becouse of its ability to control the axle during corners. Also make the pan hard bar as long as possable too.

I actually installed it inside the frame at first, tacked it all up and then decided I didnt want to sacrifice ride and handling for tire width. Where they are now I think I can still run a 12 inch wide tire with no troubles. I wanna say the plate was 3/16. This was purchased as a kit from Fatman Fab, but after doing this one once, I would make my own. pretty simple once you have been through it once.

Okay, Thank you! Thats pretty much where my thoughts were was mainly on the tire width and any loss of handling.. Thanks
