There appears to be oil leaking from many places in the air tubes...
The other question is; how does one clean out the intercooler and associated pipes once they are coated with the oily stuff from the ccv???

I wouldn't waste the time trying to clean the pipes or cooler. Those who have tried got a surprisingly small amount of oil out. Just continue to drive and let the air flow move the oil out through the system for you. I'd also skip hooking it to the exhaust. A few have run some tests doing that and reported increased back pressure in the crank case in certain situations. A couple of done it successfully, but I'd rather play it safe if there's a chance of increased back pressure. Also be sure to route your vent tube sloping down hill. If it's run horizontally (say towards the rear of the truck) you run the risk of getting a low spot that can fill with condensation and freeze in the winter time.
Recently installed the K&N air filter... seems to have made a good change in the overall performance and economy... it takes less "gas pedal" to make it go round all the same places...
Is there a recommended oil weight to be used in the 6.0... I mean other than the 15/40 ...
thanks for the tip...
Unless you're in an extremely cold climate, 15w-40 is a good oil. If you want to go synthetic, you can look at a 5w-40. Just be sure to use a quality rated diesel oil. Your HEUI system requires the proper oil rating to keep the engine and injectors running right.
We do have a 6.0 diesel section located further down the main forum listing. Stop by there and do some reading on your motor.
This King Ranch is my wifes car (Large Car), she pokes around in it and once in a while will pull her horse trailer... it never goes off road and is generally in a clean enviornment so I thought the K&N was a good experiment to take on with the 6.0... it's only been a few days and the result is good so far... the display says her average mpg now is 19.5...
it's gone up since the new air filter... that's really what I was after...
Diesel is now $3.85 per so anything that makes it go further on a couple of drops of fuel is worth looking at I figure.
Thanks for the feedback...
I worked for New York State for a long time, we had the Navistar busses with the 444 and got great service... one (1993) was at 379,000 when it was sold as surplus... I bought it for $100.00... pump motor... used it as a tool truck for a long time. Sold it to a youngster who was going to create a "stump puller" with his f-250... Allison and all...
