Smile Need to go in different direction

Most threads talk about building up suspension for heavier loads. I need to soften mine. I only tow an alum. bass boat and my ex is set up to haul heavy loads. Bilstine? shocks and trailer brakes came with Ex and I can feel a penny when I run over it. What is the best way to soften the ride? I have lowered air pressure with little improvements. Will shock alone make the difference or is it time to change out the springs?

You can get the Rancho 9000XL shocks which are 9-way adjustable, and you can get it with a portable remote to control them. Ive heard people really like the ride on setting 1

I have the 9000xl's, they do help! If your feeling the pennies your tires may be the problem. I noticed a huge change from my old firestone's (nice ride) to my current BFG's all terrain's feelin the pennies. Bad thing was my firestone's lasted 35k miles. My BFG's are on 70k and still look good.

This is what I would start with, you may be happy with ride at that point. If not, springs will do it.

I agree with the Rancho's. I have mine on 3 which is a good compromise for solo and towing. The Bilsteins are excellent shocks but are known for being firm so you will definitely see a difference. Also - make sure you aren't riding on the bump stops due to sagging springs.

+ 2 or 3 or whatever on the rancho 9000's
unless I'm towing heavy I leave them on 1 and air the tire up HIGH !

I have firestones on now and miss the BFG AT's I had on my F250. How much clearance should there be between the bump stops and the springs? Shocks look like the first direction to go right now.

Yeah you can't go wrong, I have my shocks set on 4 front and rear. This will be something you need to play with once installed. Everyone has there own preference, you should start on setting 5 front and rear and adjust from there.
I have upgraded my bump stops to newer shorter model, I never hit even if coming off a sidewalk.
