advise
going out to look at/buy a c6 with 205 or 208. guy only wants 100$ for them, said i can take the 205 or 208. im thinking i'll get the 208 cause its lighter and has a better low range, but should i look for anything in the c6? like a stamping somewhere that tells me if it's got different gears in it? basicaly all i know is the distance to measure on the bellhousing bolts to make sure its small block ford, and that the pan should have 17 bolts. other then that, im lost.
so what should i look for when i see this thing tomorrow?

Gear ratios are all the same. Make sure it fits your block, and consider it a core. I wouldn't install a --am I understanding your post--a $100 transmission? Not without a trans man looking at it.
