weird steering problem

weird steering problem

ok i hope some one can help me with this i just bought a 1978 f250 with a 460 swap in it the problem i am having that is confusing the heck outta me is with the engine running and not moving a can grab the steering wheel and barely move it then let go and it keeps going till the tires stop then grab it and braely turn the sheel the other direction and let go it keeps going till the tires stop please help i really dont wanna start throwing parts at it

Sounds like a issue....Has the air been bled out of the power steering system? It might be an internal leak letting fluid under pressure on one side or the other of the PS gear... maybe that's why it's creeping on ya.

thats what i was kinda thinking is that it is an issue with the gear box maybe some one else had an issue like this so figured i would check around befor throwing one in cause them are spendy its an older truck it gonna have issues but the steering one is not one i want to drive around with lol thanks for your feed back. its a cool trick to show ppl tho i just tell them its autopilot

o yeah the air is out of the system bled it pretty good
