front end shock absorbers

1989 ford bronco full size 5.0 AOD trans 44 front and 8.8 rear floor shift 4X4 blah blah blah

i noticed today after hitting a million billion pot holes (midwest people are use to it) my front end passenger side is lower then the drivers side. the only thing i could really tell was a good 1.5" difference from the top of the tire to the trim on the fender.

since the bronco has 4 shocks on the front end, is it ok to just buy 2 heavy duty shocks to replace all 4 on the front end?

It won't make any difference in ride height, springs set ride height, shocks (either 2 or 4) stop it from bouncing...

well the spring in the front end is not broken, i did notice one of the shocks is oily on the top meaning it is depressurizing.

is it ok to only have 1 shock on each side of the truck's front end? (its expensive even for a carquest employee to buy all 4 shocks for the front end)

I'm not saying the shocks are not bad, I am just saying they are not the reason it is sitting low on one side...

Why not replace the pair that look the worst (leaking/whatever) then get the others next month/paycheck..

You may have a weak spring or the truck was not on a good level spot when you checked it...........

One good shock on each side work fine. Quads were part of an optional handling package. However, we don't have the midwest winter road damage.

x2 on the Bilsteins. If you're going to go with only 2, make sure you do the rear pair as they are the main shocks, the forward pair are the auxiliaries. It should ride a little better with only one set, the auxiliaries were part of the towing package usually.

The forward shocks are the auxiliary set on trucks equipped with the quad setup. You can run with just the aft set in place and be no different than a standard equipped Bronco/F-150.
