The way I look at it.. the UK doesn't really have it worse. Their gas prices may be higher, but they also tend to have more fuel efficient cars; not to mention that their population density is also about 8x higher than ours. So their should not be as much of a need to make long trips.
please lets not model our country after euro counties, unless you want high fuel prices, no firearms / rights / or a way to defend yourselves against the government and socialized healthcare/welfare.
I country is founded on freedom, lets keep as much as that as we can.
I most definitely don't believe everything I see on TV, but I have found Fox News Channel to be rather reliable in the past.. But, think outside the box for a moment. The price of gas has increased by like forty something cents over the past month due to speculation about what's going on in countries like Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Jordan... What do you think is gonna happen when those speculators start spit-balling about instability in Saudi Arabia, the world's largest exporter of oil?
So how is your $6 a gallon gas thing going See I told you

Yeah, thankfully it didn't get up to $6 a gallon. Everybody's wrong every now and again, I think I'm allowed this one. Haha.
As a matter of fact, oil is down by $0.57 for WTI Crude and $1.59 for Brent Crude. So where ever my dad (I'm starting to doubt it was Fox News) heard that report, it was obviously false. But, oh well, life goes on.. Let's just hope that Saudi Arabia stays on top of the protests over there..
And what will happen as a result of the earthquake??
Not the way we would want this to happen by any means, but the judging by the pictures of damage to the Japanese infrastructure, it should cause a drop in demand and subsequent drop in price.

I'm not saying YOU were wrong. I am saying the NEWS was WRONG, as usuall
Here's a conspiracy theory... If they knew the gas prices were going down, spread a rumor that a huge jump is coming. Everybody goes and fills up at todays price, then it drops and the oil companies make a couple million $$.
Personally I am more worried about the "there was an explosion at the failed nuclear plant in Japan, but radiation levels have since gone down........."
I guess that is just since we are all down wind from them more or less.
If we stop getting gas, I can still walk to work and grow my own groceries if need be. Like the machines in the matrix, there are levels of survival, you just need to be prepared to live with them.
That all changes if I start to glow in the dark...

Like the Hank Williams Jr song says, "A Country Boy Can Survive!"
Regular gas is $1.15 a litre Canadian here which translates into $4.50/gal US dollars. We've been primed to expect $1.50 a litre by summer and that's $5.80 US (close to $6.00 a gallon!).
