I don't ever think to venture out from the 73-79 section too often, but I just started a thread relating to coating my frame and welcome you to view it and offer your input if you don't mind.

ok, i just read the whole thread.... dont get frustrated, take it one step at a time. small bites every weekend or when you have time to do them, if you jump in both feet and have too much on your plate to eat you'll never finish it.

i would say get the truck road worthy and make upgrades as you can. just my 2 cents.
