I drove my truck about 60 miles with the cruise set about 65. As I'm getting off the interstate I shut the cruise off, make the loop onto 49. I push the throttle. Nothing???? I hold it for a few seconds the truck starts to rev up and take off. I can't drive through gulfport like this. So I take the first right and try to go. Same thing.... Nothing. Hold it for a few seconds and it picks up and takes off. Help!!!!!!
Sounds like a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) or IVS (Idle Validation Switch). Both located on the throttle pedal. Dependig on year they are seperate parts or built as one. You can try cleaning the IVS contacts. The IVS is normally open and when pressure is applied to throttle the contacts should make to close the switch. If the PCM does not see the closure it ignores the TPS signals.
I unhooked my edge ezf and its going fine for now......
I drove about 10 to 15 minutes to the hospital. Its sitting the parking lot for now. I gotta visit my grandma for awhile. She don't have much time left the truck will be there
By all means spend time with your Grandma. We'll be here when you're ready to proceed. Just for fun, check your oil level, but the TPS sounds most likely, but removing the edge should not have affected it.
I checked the oil 2 days ago. It was full. I haven't had any leaks. This is the first time I drove it since I checked the oil. I unhooked the edge for ****s and giggles thinking it wasn't gonna help. I was thinking of the pedal. Sitting in the parking lot of home depot I had nothing else to do
Couple of things I would check.
The little tin nut on the IPR, if they come off, all sorts of issues can occur.
Oil level, again.
Reason I say this, when my IPR went south, the only way I could get it to move at all was to hold the pedal to the floor until I got moving a little, then it would get a little better, but I was getting a intermittent light
If the nut has come off, the that's an easy fix. If you are getting the 1211 code, then you may have a bad IPR or ICP. Some have luck cleaning the IPR, but for me, the only cure was a new one. My light didn't start coming on until it got to the point it just about wasn't going.
I wouldn't be surprised ifit is your edge. Mine starteddoing weird things after a year or two needles to say it ended up in the garbage. Other friends of mine ended up with diferant peoblms and also got rid of them.
Where is the ipr? I will check later. It looked like my plug for my icp had oil in it but I didn't look real good. I was in the home depot parking lot and kinda pissed.
