Drag Trucks

Well im in the process of building a drag truck and after searching and seeing a few in the lowered truck section i wanted to get them in one thread. So lets see em AND specs, motor/mods et's etc. Thanks

I got the drag bug after buying a F100 and runnin a 7.80 in the 1/8 with a bagged out 351m ......and now the 460 and 4:10 gears are goin in, im sure a little shot of nitrous will make the stock heads flow till i can afford hi-po goodies

Nutty, around Kansas city we run the 1/4 mile. I'm always confused of 1/8 mile times. What does 7.8 roughly break down to in a quarter mile?

yeah mid 14's-15's in the 1/4 is about right. Its all we got here unless i go to mission for the 1/4. The feeling of being "allowed" to hammer full throttle and race is awesome

IIRR 1/8th mile times are ROUGHLY 60% of your 1/4mile times... provided the car/truck is built for the 1/4mile tracks.... Some people who ONLY race 1/8 mile tracks will build the cars for max performance on the 1/8th but usually involves too much rear gear to make a full pass at a 1/4 track....

a 7.8sec 1/8 pass should net about a 13.5 1/4 pass.... NOT ACCOUNTING FOR MECHANICAL SHORT COMINGS ... valve float, over geared, under geared, slipping trans/clutch... etc etc

He'll probably never get over here from the FE forum so I'll post it up. This is Scouder's 511ci FE powered highboy.

YouTube - F250 6.97 at 99.7 mph in 1/8 mile. Track Record!

Check out his channel for other vids. The thing was so bada$$!

I am starting with a 75. Lets see if I can load a pic on my first post. I have had this truck as a daily for about 8 yrs now. Its now sitting at a buddy's house waiting for me to get started.
Nope can't post as of yet,but as soon as I can I'll get the pic up.
Anyway,it will have a built 351m w/edelbrock heads and intake and camshaft to match. Lowered i-beams and possibly a 4 link in the rear. Not sure yet. I've seen a truck on here running leafs with slapper bars. The block will be beefed up with aftermarket splayed main caps for strength.
A C-6 with a brake and full manual valve body. I would go with aBBf,but this motor was free!!All of my project ideas are on hold as of now. The earthquake and tsunami in Japan is takin its toll on my job,as I work a supplier to the local Toyota plant. We are down to a 3 day work week for an undetermined time.

A drag truck is what I am somewhat shooting for with my 78 F100, mines going to be a street strip truck getting a 460 in front of a 4spd.
