1) How can I figure out which tuner was installed by the previous owner? He says he cannot remember the name, but just knows it gave it an extra 50hp. Where do I look to figure this out?
2) Any rec's on a scanner to purchase for code reading?

Is there a chip installed in the PCM now or was it a programmer/tuner that plugged into the OBD-II port?
As far as scanner's are concerned I would recommed Auto Enginuity. t's a great diagnostics tool that I continue to use regularly.
Look in front of the emergency brake (between the emerg brake and the firewall) there is a silver box (PCM). Look on the front (area facing the cab) to see if there is any tape (duct tape, etc) covering the front of the PCM. This would show that a chip was installed. If not it then the tuner was a programmer that was plugged into the OBD-II port - The plug under the right side of the steering wheel mechanics use to plug in there computers/diagnostic tools.
