I have an 04 and an 01 that the a/c works fine untill going up hill putting a load on the engine at which point the air stops blowing out the panel and comes out the defrost instead. I couldn't find a tsb. Has anyone come across this before?
That is a classic sign of losing vacuum somewhere because the engine is providing much less vacuum under load.
If you have a vacuum reservoir, and you probably do, it has a one-way valve either in the reservoir itself, or near it. That one-way valve is probably stuck open, and allowing vacuum from the reservoir to escape back to the engine. Even if you don't have a reservoir, the one-way valve is somewhere between the engine and the heater/ac box.
Either that, or you have a leak in the vacuum system in the heater box, or broken hose between the one-way valve and the heater box, etc. etc.
