Fuel Pump Noise ?
New fuel pump on my 71 360 is making a knocking noise. I can hear it standing in front the with hood open but not from inside cab. Is some amount of knock from the fuel pump normal?

What usually causes the fuel pump to knock is the spring that keeps the arm on the eccentric has failed. It'll probably run like that for a while but the pump will eventually fail due to the shock of the arm slapping on the eccentric.
If it's a new pump get it warranteed.
