Magnesol will remove ALL the crap including methanol. If you don't remove the methanol first you need 2% magnesol. I use a weight of 7.5 lbs/gallon as the weight of a gallon of biodiesel. As an example: 10 gallons of bio = 75 pounds which would require 1.5 lbs Magnesol.

Let us know how your first batch runs. How cold is it getting there? bio gels at a higher temp (usually 40's) so you might need to mix it. I'm running about 30% (guestimating) just added 5 more gallons of bio. Even at that ratio, you still smell the bio...

The only thing I do is carry a spare fuel filter. As someone said before bio is a solvent and will remove rust and other junk from your fuel system. Looks like you should be ok too as far as the year of your vehicle.

2nd batch started today, 40 gal batch. been mixing with the koh and methanol for about 3 hours now, not sure why it wont pass the 3/27 test. all measurements were done twice and everything.

Sounds like you might have had some water suspended in your WVO. Try adding some KOH to the mix. I've had the same problem and had to add a half pound at a time to correct the batch.

Are you saying the unreacted oil drop is floating on top of the methanol?

Any precipitate will end up on the bottom of the methanol. Remember that for accuracy it needs to be at 68F. Warmer temps can give a false pass, and colder temps will give a false fail. I usually perform test in a water bath to ensure consistent temp.

Still some ureacted oil. I personally, have never added KOH in the later stages of process, so I have no experience on how you should proceed at this point. Hopefully Don will chime in and assist with this and know what to look for.

If batch does not complete reaction though, I can help you with figuring out what to do with the batch to fix it.
