When I accelerate to around 3000 RPM's, my battery indicator light comes on until the gear shifts and the RPM's drop. The lights also dim when this happens. It didn't happen before. Would this be a bad battery or a bad alternator? Please help.
On my 02 f150 with the 4.2 it's been doing the same thing and it's been fine for 3 months so far... You should be safe as long as you can keep your foot out of the throttle
Might be the brushes in the alternator are so worn out the brush spring tension is too weak to make good contact at higher rpm on the slip rings. As stated above you may need a new alternator if the mileage is higher on it.
